Preowned Bicycles

We are excited to open and present to our customers the preowned / used bicycles webpage. As you may suspect and expect, we only select and buy high quality preowned bikes. That said, you may be lucky and find a classic branded bike here from time to time. So if you are a collector, do visit us from time to time.

We want you to be thrilled to purchase a preowned bike, as we are when we present it to you, online or offline. We know you will be happy and satisfied with your purchase because we have put in place various checks and balances to ensure that what you are purchasing is in good condition and backed up with warranty, so that you can enjoy stress-free purchase and ownership of your bike from our store.

Selection;

Before buying a bike from any customer, we try to make sure that the bike is coming from a respectable person and that it is not a stolen bike. We also for a full history as well. We also try to find out if there was any maintenance done on the bike or not. Of course we want to know the reason why the customer wants to sell the bike.

We also give the bike a good inspection before buying it, so that we can offer a good deal to the customer who is selling. Though it may seem quick for the seller, our speed of inspection is based on years of experience in handling bicycles and servicing all brands of bicycles. So in what may seem to be a very quick moment of inspection, where the customer may not even notice what we have done, we do the following;

  • We visually inspect the frame, wheels, tires, cables, saddle, suspension (if available), spokes, the derailleurs, shifters, etc. Are they original, are they in good shape. If they are not original, are they compatible and in good shape?
  • Then we touch the bike and using workshop experience we inspect the headset, hubs and bottom bracket (three areas that have some kind of bearings and need greasing to up keep)
  • Then we check the functionality of gears, brakes, suspensions, dropper posts, etc.

If we are satisfied with what we saw and we are interested in purchasing the bike to offer it to our customers, we make calculations and assert as to what it will cost us to bring the bike to shape and be able to sell it with warranty. We will say this, that even with experience, sometimes there are things we do not foresee! We take the risk anyway. If it be that during service we need to replace a few extra things, so be it. When we are confident enough that we can offer warranty, we finally accept the bike.

Preparation;

Once the bike is in our hands, we run it through our service department, and in most cases we put it through the “Essential Maintenance” service. During the service if we notice that anything needs immediate attention, we take care of it. Be it re-greasing the hubs, the headset, or replacing cables, and/or cable housing, handlebar grips, or tape, tubes, etc.. We do all we can to bring it to prime condition.

Modifications;

In rare cases we make modifications to the bike before putting it up for sale. This is in such cases where the previous owner has modified the bike for his purpose, by putting a stem that is too long, or a handlebar that does not match the bike, or anything that does not look or feel right, thereby minimizing the original design, functionality and performance which was done by the manufacturer after years of professional research and development. We do not replace the tires, unless the ones on the bike are dangerously worn out, or dry rotted, which would pause a hazard to the next buyer.

Warranties;

Given that we start by choosing quality used bikes, we inspect them, and we service them, and fix what needs to be fixed, we don’t see a reason not to offer warranties to our first buyer for most bikes with restrictions to carbon frame bikes or bikes with carbon components.

6 Months Frame & Tranny Warranty is what we offer as standard (excluding carbon frames and carbon components). IF there’s anything that may need attention past warranty period, that woo will be mentioned to the buyer. But we hope they will bring the bike for service at least every 6 months, so that we can monitor everything and service their bikes as we do new bikes. This will ensure happy ownership and long life for the bike.

Free Gear Tune-up Service;

We offer a Free Gear Tune-Up service, applicable between 150 and 250 km (after the bike is purchased) and within a 3 months period. This service is free to the first buyer only and does not transfer to the next buyer should the customer sell the bike within the 3 months period. This is a mechanical service for gears only, it does not include bike washes, degreasing and re-lubing. During this service, we will make sure the gear shifting is still good or make adjustments, we will inspect the brakes, and other components as well, just so see if there’s anythings that needs attention.
